February Book Blanket Update
Kate FoxShare
Cowboys, Greens and One Square Headed for the Frog Pile
Compared to January's squares, February was not calm.
I took on a Valentine’s book challenge, turned a certain series into my Miles High Club keyboard mat, and quietly kept building this Book Blanket that started back in January. If you missed how this whole thing began, go read that post first because apparently I commit to large projects without checking my calendar.
I technically finished these February squares on 28 February.
I am posting this late because I am a busy mum and sometimes blog posts sit behind school lunches, life admin and remembering to defrost dinner.
And now that I’m looking at them again, one of these squares is getting frogged.
And for my busy readers, TD/LR at the end as usual :)
What Was Read This Month
- The Raven Scholar
- Swift and Saddled
- Lost and Lassoed
- Wild and Wrangled
Four books. Four squares. One impending frog situation.
The Raven Scholar

Review from my sister:
“It took a while to understand the style of writing and who was the narrator. Once I figured it out, it made such perfect sense! Fantastic book with twists and turns, great world and character building and very interesting magic deity system. The whole book I questioned which member of the 8 would I pledge to!”
Cozy Cloud Legacy Colours used: 43, 17, 4, 17, 19, 17
This one felt layered and structured.
You’ll notice 17 repeats throughout. That was intentional. I wanted that sense of return and questioning she described.
43 and 19 added depth. 4 anchored it.
No changes needed here. This one feels strong.
Swift and Saddled

Review from my sister:
“Only if this book had pictures! I want to see Ada’s interior design! Great fella good story.”
Cozy Cloud Legacy Colours used: 65, 77, 13, 47, 4, 76
This one leaned warm and cohesive straight away. 65 gave me that soft ranch base. 77 and 13 added warmth. 47 deepened it. 4 grounded everything. 76 lifted it just enough.
Looking at it now, I still like it. It feels balanced and fits beautifully beside the other ranch books.
No frogging here.
Lost and Lassoed

Review from my sister:
“My favourite out of the series yet! Such a feel good book with the classic enemies to lovers trope! Definitely recommend to read them in order to get the most emotional hit!”
Cozy Cloud Legacy Colours used: 65, 47, 41, 67, 4, 75
This one sent me back to the Cozy Cloud showroom.
Halfway through planning I realised I did not have enough green variation to do this one justice. So yes, I drove back specifically for more greens.
I stood there holding multiple shades like I was renovating a ranch house.
65 and 4 kept the series cohesive. 47 and 41 added depth. 67 and 75 layered in those richer green tones that matched the emotional payoff she described.
This square feels right. Strong. No regrets.
Wild and Wrangled

Review from my sister:
“A great end to a great series! That last chapter needed some tissues!”
Cozy Cloud Legacy Colours used: 65, 17, 77, 70, 4, 58
This was the emotional finale of the Rebel Blue Ranch trilogy.
I kept 65 and 4 consistent across the series. 17 and 77 warmed it up. 70 and 58 brought in those deeper tones to reflect the heavier ending.
But now that I have a physical copy of the book in my hand, I can see the blues differently.
On screen they worked. In real life they feel slightly off compared to the actual cover tones.
So Wild and Wrangled is getting frogged.
Not scrapped. Refined.
Because if this blanket is going to represent the books properly, I want it to feel intentional. Even if that means undoing work.
Blanket Progress

Four squares added.
Three cowboy romance. One morally grey fantasy.
The Rebel Blue Ranch squares sit beautifully together visually. But Wild and Wrangled needs adjusting now that I’ve seen the cover in real life.
This project is becoming more intentional as it grows. Just like the Valentine’s challenge pushed me into creating my Miles High Club keyboard mat, this blanket keeps evolving.
And sometimes evolving means frogging.
What I’m Learning

- Review the physical book cover before locking colours
- Keep a grounding shade consistent across a series
- If something feels slightly off, trust that instinct
- Frogging is part of the creative process, not failure
And this one is becoming essential.
Write down notes for every single square.
The colours I used. Why I chose them. What worked. What didn’t. What I would change if I ever remake it.
Because a month later when I’m staring at Wild and Wrangled wondering why the blues feel wrong, I need to remember what my original thinking was.
I’ve started properly tracking each square in my Excel sheet and using a printable tracker so I can record:
- The book
- The rating
- The colour numbers
- The review
Future me will be grateful when this blanket is double the size and I’m trying to remember what shade 17 was doing in three different squares.
I’ll add a photo of my printable tracker below because honestly, it is saving my sanity.
If you’re doing your own book blanket, start tracking from square one. Trust me.

I Need Your Thoughts
When you look at the three Rebel Blue Ranch squares together, does Wild and Wrangled feel slightly off to you?
Would you frog it and redo the blue?
Or am I overthinking this like I do everything else?
Tell me. Because if I am going to sit there pulling out stitches, I want to know you agree.
TL/DR
Finished four squares on 28 February.
Drove back to Cozy Cloud Showroom for more greens.
Wild and Wrangled is getting frogged.
Started properly tracking every square.
This blanket is no longer accidental.
